Pastor Bob, thanks for the timely heads up on the article, as well as your words of wisdom.
Our family isn’t “well off” by the world’s standards, but God has always provided every need for us, and even a few “wants,” too, just to bless us. I think of so many times the Lord has come through for us, and your message here reminded me of those blessings and gave me the opportunity to thank Him for those blessings. God bless you!
Great commentary on Prosperity Gospel….I do have some friends who believe they just have to ‘claim it’…and God will provide. I definitely will have them listen to this synopsis. Cetainly, He does supply our needs…what a promise that is that we can depend on! May God continue to bless you in all you do….for Christ and His Kingdom!
I am not disagreeing with what you said in your blog, but I become concerned when one Church points at another group of Church’s doctrines and calls them names. True, Jesus called the Pharisees “whitewashed tombstones.” However, I am referring to using terms like “Fringe Doctrine,” “Name It And Claim It” or “Blab It And Grab It.” Stick to the facts. Take the Scriptures they use to prove their position, and prove they are incorrect.
Pastor Bob: Amen on your comments regarding prosperity from a biblical perspective. The apostle Paul put it well when he wrote that he had LEARNED (it doesn’t come naturally) to be content in no matter what circumstances he faced (i.e. times of upswinging economy/wealth, & times of recession/portfolio collapse). This LEARNING comes with DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING & abiding IN CHRIST, our hope of glory. Being conformed to the image of His Son Jesus…that’s what our Father in heaven is after.
Pastor Bob: God Bless You, I believe in the principals the bible teach about tithing and giving. I also understand that hard times can effect good people. I often get criticized when I take this stand because people from my church beleive “we are children of the King and the plagues of Eygpt can’t touch us”. I see to many churches becoming so materialistic with the mentality that when you honor God all these stuff come to you. Thanks for clearing the difference between spiritual prosperity.
